Priced at under $90 (at the time of writing), it is aimed at those coffee lovers who just want a single brew at times of their choosing, and don't want to mess about with programming or anything else. In other words, simplicity. So does this coffee brewer deliver?
Keurig Means K-Cups
As you'd expect from any coffee maker that has the benefit of Keurig's brewing technology, this product uses K-Cups. The advantages of using K-Cups are well known - you just put one in the slot, close the lid, and shortly after you have your brew. Oh, and there's no mess to clear up afterwards. Just dump the used filter in the trash.
The only downside is the cost, if that bothers you, in which case you can use a reusable K-Cup filter, such as a Solofill Reusable. But you do get a 5 pack of K-Cup samples to start you off, which can't be bad.
Ease and Speed
For those of us who want it easy and fast then we could do a lot worse than the Mr Coffee Single Serve. The K-Cups make it easy, and Mr Coffee and Keurig make it quick. Less than one minute to a brew, according to Mr Coffee, though in practice it's more like a minute to start the brew (following the previous brew) and another 30-40 seconds to actually brew a 6 oz or 8 oz cup. Even so, not a bad turn-around time.

Three Brew Size Options
Surprisingly for a single serve brewer, this model gives a choice of 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz sizes of brew. The 40 oz water reservoir can supply around 6 cups of average size, so you won't have to keep getting up to refill it.
Mr Coffee recommends that you use bottled or filtered water in this coffee maker. Ordinary tap water will clog up the channels through which it has to pass and cause problems. Even these precautions won't prevent cleaning and maintenance tasks, but at least they're made as easy as they can be.
The water filter lifts off for thorough inspection and cleaning, as does the drip tray. It's important to follow the advice in the Owner's Manual, otherwise, you risk having a non-working coffee maker on your hands and complaining about it in the reviews section.

The Mr Coffee Single Serve scores over 3.5 stars from over 1,800 reviewers on Amazon at the time of writing, with around two thirds of all reviewers giving four or five stars. Most users like the simplicity of the coffee maker, with no clock, default settings or temperature adjustments to worry about.
As ever, there are a few negative reviews from users who have had an unfortunate experience with their machine. What can be learned from that is that any coffee maker, no matter what the price or who the manufacturer is, needs periodic maintenance and cleaning if it is to last the course.
